The Difference Between Acrylic & Traditional Stucco
Composition

Acrylic stucco, also known as synthetic stucco, is made out of acrylic resins and polymers. Traditional stucco, meanwhile, is made out of Portland Cement and Lime. Both contain sand.
Cost

Generally, acrylic stucco costs more than traditional stucco and comes in smaller amounts. Acrylic stucco comes in wider variety of colors that can be easily matched across batches, while traditional stucco colors might not be as bright or consistent.

Application

Acrylic stucco can be mixed in smaller batches, while with traditional stucco, you’ll want to mix all of your stucco at once to attain a consistent color. This means that mixing acrylic stucco does not necessarily require a mixer, while mixing traditional stucco probably does.

Your individual situation will determine whether synthetic acrylic stucco or traditional cement-based stucco is right for you. If you’re interested in renewing your stucco, or you’re starting on a new construction project, call the contractors at R.G. Roach Specialties today to discuss your options!
